Executive Secretary of Ohio
Association of Free Will Baptists
Rev.Edwin Hayes serves as the Executive
Secretary of the Ohio State Association of Free Will
Baptists.A native of Columbus, Ohio, Brother
Hayes was saved at the age of 13 and entered the
ministry in 1974 at the age of 23. He was ordained
by the Franklin Conference and pastored his home
church (Columbus 1st) for thirteen years
(1980-1993). Before this, he was employed as a
Rev. Paul Keener has served as the manager of the Ambassador Bible Bookstore since April of
2002. He was a former bi-vocational pastor, where he served as pastor of the Lewis Center Free Will
Baptist Church and was employed by Lucent Technologies as a quality auditor. He has attended the
Lockbourne Branch of Ohio University and Otterbein College . As an auditor, he had extensive
training in team building, performance, and problem solving. Paul was saved at age 12. He
announced his calling to preach in 1973 and was ordained in 1974 by the Franklin Conference. He
is active in the Franklin Conference and in the Ohio State Association. He and his wife Sue have 4
children and 15 grand-children. Paul understands the necessity of a good educational program in
the church, and the urgency of teaching our youth. He is a very strong supporter of the CLEAR
learning system which is offered by Randall House Publishing.
Manager of the Ambassador Bible Bookstore
Production Control Supervisor at the Jeffrey Mining Machinery Company in
Columbus. He obtained an Associate Degree from Franklin University
attended Cedarville College and is presently doing studies at Hillsdale FWB
College. He is married to the former Linda Litteral. They have two
daughters, Julie and Holly, one son-in-law, John Harra and two
grandchildren, Keely and John Harra.
Brother Edwin has a rich heritage in the Free Will Baptist work. His late
father, Woodrow Hayes served as deacon for the Columbus 1st Church for
over 50 years. His grandfather, elder Dave Al Hayes, was a longtime FWB
pastor, pastoring several churches in Kentucky before serving the
Columbus 1st Church for over eighteen years. His father in law, Rev. Henry
Litteral, is a well-known Ohio pastor. Mrs. Hayes’ grandfather, Rev. Kelly
Patton was a FWB preacher who ministered for many years in eastern
Kentucky.
His service for the denomination includes the Franklin Conference Mission
Board, & Conference Executive Secretary, State Moderator, and Clerk on the
National Sunday School Board. He has written several articles for Contact.
As Ohio’s Executive Secretary, Rev. Hayes fills many rolls: State Evangelist,
pastor to Ohio’s pastors, editor of the 20 page Ambassador Magazine,
director of the Ohio Bible Institute, fulfills the treasury responsibilities for the
state, trains teachers and leaders in Sunday school workshops, directs the
annual Ohio Men’s retreat, oversees the Ambassador Bible Bookstore, and
performs the denomination’s promotional work for Ohio.
